Titanic Film Festival

Both international and national feature and documentary films are shown at the Titanic Film Festival. Budapest film and television directors also introduce themselves.

Budapest Spring Festival

Almost 200 events await visitors to the Budapest Spring Festival at various locations in the city. An extensive program with classical and church concerts, operas and operettas, theater and dance performances, jazz and folk music as well as exhibitions offers something for every taste.

Museum festival

Admission to around 100 museums is free during the museum festival. In addition to free entry to the museums, visitors to the festival can expect live music, dance, theater and good food.

Formula 1: Hungarian Grand Prix

The Formula 1 Grand Prix was launched at the Hungaroring Mogyoród in Hungary. In addition to the official Formula 1 race on Sunday, other attractions such as boxing visits and free practice on Friday as well as the qualifying races on Saturday are also on offer.

Sziget Festival

The Sziget Festival is one of the major pop and cultural festivals in Europe. It takes place every year in August on the Danube island of Hajógyári, in the north of Budapest. World stars and newcomers play on several stages. People celebrate and dance in tents and in the open air. Tickets are available with and without a camping pass.

International marathon

The marathon starts with thousands of runners from various disciplines from many countries on Hôsök tere (Heldenplatz) to take part in this year’s marathon in Budapest. After the race, rest and relaxation await participants and visitors in the Széchenyi thermal bath and in various festival activities. The whole weekend is dedicated to sports and encounters.

Pálinka Festival

Pálinka is an ancient Hungarian brandy that is the focus of a big festival in May. Numerous suppliers present over 300 different varieties in Városháza Park, which can be tasted with typical Hungarian dishes and sweet treats. In addition, musical performances provide entertainment.

Christmas Market

The Budapest Christmas market spreads pure Christmas atmosphere. With its colorfully decorated stands, the scent of cinnamon, mulled wine and honey cookies on every corner and the sounding carousels, it not only lights up children’s eyes. The most beautiful and atmospheric Christmas market in the city is held on Vörösmarty tér. In addition to sales of pure natural products and handicrafts, the market also offers exhibitions and cultural and music programs with traditional folk dances. Be sure to try the delicious, regional cuisine such as strudel, grilled sausages, Kürtös Kalacs (hollow pastry in the shape of a cylinder with various coatings of sugar and walnuts or chocolate) or Langos (baked dough).

New Year’s Eve

All of Budapest rocks on New Year’s Eve. Be it in a chic restaurant, at a private party or with a 4-course menu on the Danube, don’t miss the fireworks. It will be on Vörösmarty Platz, Nyugati Platz, on Oktogonplatz and Andrássy Street hosted various concerts, dance theater, dance and carnival shows at the end of the year. Many locals celebrate the turn of the year in trendy bars and cafés on Andrássy Street and Liszt Ferenc Square. Let yourself be pampered on New Year’s Eve on a river boat on the Danube, or go to one of the many very good restaurants in Budapest. However, reservations often have to be made months in advance. Of course, the best way to get to know national New Year’s customs is at a private party. Another party tip is a discotheque on Oktogonplatz. The fireworks are conjured up into the night sky at Vörösmarty Platz, Oktogonplatz and Nyugati Platz at midnight.
