How to Get to Madonna di Campiglio, Italy

According to BRIDGAT, there is no airport in the resort, and the nearest railway station is 70 km away, in the town of Trento. The only transport hub is the bus station. To get to the village from Russia, you first need to fly to one of the Italian or Austrian airports, and then overcome at least 170 km by land.

Most often, as a point of arrival, tourists choose the air gates of Verona (174 km from Madonna di Campiglio), Innsbruck (228 km) or Milan (222 km). For Muscovites, the flight to Verona will take 3.5-18 hours. There are few flights, there are direct ones from Es Seven. The flight to Milan will cost more. Travel time is about the same – 3.5-17 hours. For residents of St. Petersburg, the situation is similar. True, Verona can only be reached with a transfer, on the way you will have to spend 2-3 hours more.

From airport to resort

Regardless of the city of arrival, all routes to Madonna di Campiglio run through Trento. Bus number 201 runs from there from 6:45 to 18:45, the journey takes a little over 2 hours. You can get to Trento by train or bus. In the first case, the trip will cost 10-20 EUR from Verona (on the way – 1-1.5 hours), 19-50 EUR from Milan (2.5-4 hours) and 40 EUR from Innsbruck (2.5 hours). From Italian cities, trains run from 5:30 to 22:30 1-2 times per hour, from Innsbruck – from 9:20 to 17:20 every 2 hours. The prices on the page are for November 2021.

During the entire winter season (12/07/2018-04/05/2020) every Saturday and Sunday, as well as additionally on 12/26/2019, 01/02/2020 and 01/06/2020, Fly Ski Shuttle buses run from the airports of Verona, Venice, Milano, Bergamo, Treviso.

There are fewer bus routes. From Verona, FlixBus cars (off. site) depart 1-2 times a day, travel time is 1.5 hours, the fare costs 10-20 EUR. There are 5 flights from Milan – 4 direct and 1 with a change in Bologna. You will have to spend 10-40 EUR and 2.5-4 hours on the road. The connecting route will take more than 7 hours. Buses Innsbruck – Trento depart 4 times a day, on the road – 2.5-3 hours, fare – 10-25 EUR.

Transport

You can cover the distance from one outskirts of the village to another in 20-30 minutes. The lower stations of most ski lifts are located within a 5-minute walk from the hotels. Ski buses run between remote hotels and neighboring ski areas; for ski pass holders, travel is free. They also have separate subscriptions, for children under 8 years old – free of charge. Several regular buses also pass through the resort – No. 201, which brings tourists from Trento, and Nos. 215, 231 and 642. The latter connect the resort with neighboring towns.

The ski areas of Madonna di Campiglio, Pinzolo, Marilleva and Folgarida are interconnected by lifts, it is not necessary to use public transport or ski buses to move between them.

Although there are several taxi companies in the resort, their services are mainly used for trips to the airport. However, tourists who are late in the restaurants of the neighboring village should not worry – services work around the clock. It is better to ask for a phone number at the hotel reception. True, you will have to pay about 2 EUR for a call. A trip around the village itself will cost 4-7 EUR, from Pinzolo to Madonna – about 12 EUR. The night rate is 20-40% more expensive.

You can ride a bike around the resort and its surroundings; for prepared tourists there are mountain routes. Two-wheelers are rented by many hotels, some free of charge for guests, as well as sports shops and ski equipment rentals. The price of the issue is 25 EUR per day or 144 EUR per week.

Madonna di Campiglio Hotels

On the territory of a small town fit more than 100 hotels, chalets and apartments. Prices are higher than the regional average. The cost of accommodation 100-250 m from the ski lifts starts from 90-100 EUR per day for a double room, at a distance you can find from 50 EUR. However, it is better to book such budget hotels six months in advance. Madonna is a popular resort, and already in August, most of the rooms for December are sold out.

Although the level of service is generally high, and hotels without a category are also quite comfortable for living, 3-4 * hotels are more popular among vacationers. Perhaps the fact is that the wealthy public comes not only to ski, but also to swim in the pool, enjoy the spa and other procedures. In addition, free ski buses run between the ski lifts and high-class hotels remote from them. A night in a double room “three rubles” will cost 50-150 EUR, in the “four” – 80-200 EUR. Most often breakfast is included in the price, sometimes dinner is included. There are few “fives” in the resort, prices range from 150 to 230 EUR for two per day.

Communication and Wi-Fi

Cellular communication in Madonna works even on the mountain slopes. Sim-cards of Russian operators in roaming are connected to Italian networks, however, it is too expensive to communicate with the house at their rates. On vacation, it is better to buy a SIM card from one of the local companies – Telecom Italia, Wind or Vodafone. The latter has a prepaid vacation rate favorable for tourists. The package includes 300 minutes and 300 SMS to Italian and Russian numbers and costs 30 EUR with a SIM card, additionally 2 GB of mobile internet. Thus, a minute of conversation or a message will cost 0.1 EUR. It is designed for a month, it is renewed automatically, you need to put another 35 EUR into your account. You can buy a SIM card and top up your balance in mobile phone shops, supermarkets and post offices.

Free Wi-Fi is available in almost all hotels, apartments and chalets. The speed is not always good, if the Internet in the room is important, it is better to look for guest reviews. Also, catering establishments and cabins of some lifts are equipped with access points.
